Great Lindley Spring Clean 2021

Lindley Community Group are organising “The Great Lindley Spring Clean” to take place on the afternoon on Saturday 12th June. The event is part of a national litter-picking campaign – The Great British Spring Clean, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, which aims to inspire people to clean up litter across the country – in cities, towns, villages, in the countryside and at our beaches.

To take part in the litter picks in Lindley on the 12th June, individuals and groups can come to Lindley Library between 10am and 12pm on the day to register. A supply of litter pickers, gloves and rubbish bags will be available for collection and we will arrange for rubbish to be collected from various pick up points.

The Great British Spring Clean is taking place this year between the 28th May and 13th June. Keep Britain Tidy are asking people to host a clean-up or pledge to take action by joining someone else’s clean-up.

Last year, the campaign was due to take place in in the spring, but it had to be rescheduled to September because of Covid-19. A series of litter picks took place in Lindley on the 12th September.

In previous years, hundreds of thousands of people across the country have taken part in the mass-action environmental campaign. It is supported by litter charities, while thousands of schools, community groups and local authorities have also pledged to get involved.

Lindley councillors, Cahal Burke and Anthony Smith, and Lindley Community Group are organising the Great Lindley Spring Clean and are encouraging local individuals and groups to join them.

From the 17th May this year, the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown allows outdoor gatherings of up to 30 people and the organisers in Lindley have said that they will monitor the situation and will continue to follow the guidance from the Government, ensuring that hygiene and social distancing measures continue to be followed.
